It even looks different with a small stubby profile and a hex socket in place of the chuck. I should also mention that with wood hammer drills are great at pushing through wood, but only because it is comparably flexible. How about little light on the subject? Like you said, the impact driver is the best tool for driving 3″ screws into studs.
